in a Cookin' Up Creations scrapbook retreat here in NC sometime next year? I have a friend who has a small store where she holds crops. I'm not sure of all the details, but if there is interest, I can find out. Another option is that NC scrap retreats are held 5 times a year, 5 minutes from my home, at a Holiday Inn Express that runs from Thursday p.m. to Sunday afternoon. Like I said, just checking interest. The first one is near all the famous NC golf courses for interested hubbies. It would be a wonderful chance to meet each other in person and share fun times.
That sounds like such a wonderful idea! I honestly don’t think I’d be able to get much scrapping done. I’d finally be meeting all of you amazing ladies I’ve known online for so many years, and I’d much rather spend that time just being with you all talking, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. Maybe we could even plan a little outing to a park or somewhere peaceful, take some pictures, and save the scrapbooking for later. Just being together in person would mean so much to me!
I talked to the ladies of both scrap retreats today. We talked through all the pros and cons of each option and looked at a few more options.
Here's what we came up with:
1. North Carolina Scrap Retreats ncscrapbookretreats.com. This is one of the more affordable options, and you'll be staying right at the hotel. The hotel is located in a shopping area with a Walmart, various restaurants, and grocery stores. The owner of the retreat said June or August 2026 would be the best times because it is less crowded. This is my home turf, so I know of recreational things we can do, such as woodfire pizza with an open-air concert, the Blue Ridge Parkway, or a picnic at the lake. Vendors are there. Disadvantage--the location is 2 hours from any airport.
2. 2Gs Designs--It's a small store, and we would have to find somewhere to stay. It is a touristy area with the golf courses. We would be the only ones there. Disadvantage: Have to leave the scrapbook site when store closes and go to wherever we would be staying. Unfamiliar with the area so not sure of fun things to do. Connie, the owner of 2 Gs, felt we would be better off doing the NC Scrap Retreat. She is a vendor there plus she agreed to design a special page kit for us. We would have to work with her schedule of when she will be in town or have other crops.
3. My friend's Beach House at Sunset Beach. We would have to go either in the Spring or the Fall, or possibly a week in late August. There would be no Scrap stores/vendors nearby. I can bring tables for you to scrap on. The house is 4 bedrooms--2 queen-size and 2 double twins. The beach is amazing. Shopping is nearby--off the island, and you can fly into Myrtle Beach. Again, I don't know much about the area, but do know of a few good restaurants and where grocery stores are.
So, there you have some options. There were others thrown around, but the cost of some of them made me rethink them. However, one of them is Scrapping With the Girls in Asheville, NC. It is held at the Biltmore Village. Our recreational event could be touring the Biltmore Estate---tickets run around $100. You can fly directly into Asheville.
Let me know what you think and there is really enough interest for me to keep looking into this event. Thanks!
I'm in. I would probably be flying since it is a 12+ hour drive. So being near an airport would be helpful. But, if several of us are flying we could meet at the airport and drive together. So the all inclusive would be fun to have everything there. The con is I would want to buy stuff from the vendors. The Beach house sounds like fun, if we can share bedrooms and bring our sleep apnea machines we would become fast friends or maybe frenemies' if we are in a small place all together. We could share supplies, if we don't have something. As long as I have adhesive and paper I can pretty much make anything. These are my thoughts, I am open to whatever
