Today’s inspiration is American quilts. I love patchwork quilts made from scraps of leftover materials.
From Wikipedia:
“During American pioneer days…paper was a scarce commodity… so women would save letters from home, postcards, newspaper clippings, and catalogs to use as patterns. The paper not only served as a pattern but as an insulator. Paper found between old quilts has become a primary source of information about pioneer life.”
Your challenge is to create a layout using nothing but scraps. You can create a pattern with scraps or just layer them up like I did in my example. The only full sheet of paper used for this layout should be your background paper. Also include some handwritten journaling to represent the letters early American women used for patterns and insulation.

Have fun and remember to upload your project by August 3rd!
