Sewing Our Signatures Into Our Journal

Post by Jan Mosier »

Now that you have collected your assortment of papers, folded in half and trimmed them for your size journal, its time to sew in your signatures.

There are a couple of different ways you can do this.

Most common, 3 hole or 5 hole pamphlet stitch.

For multiple signatures.

For no sew (travelers notebook style) signatures. This is one I like because I can easily add and remove pages.

That is pretty awesome. I am going to try the no sew version.

I have done both, but prefer the no sew. I like being able to remove and add pages if needed.

Do you make your notebook first than you add it to the cover with the elastic?

Yes I do, but I always seem to add to it as I go. I found my elastic cord in the sewing section at Hobby Lobby. You can also find other colors in the bead section.

My notebook is done....I am going to use jute to add my pages. I watched one of the videos Jan posted.
