Sunday Dec 12 Christmas Trivia

Post by sthom97093 »

I teach History. I love learning about the past and teaching people what we can learn from it. One of the stories I always share with my students is of the Christmas Truce in 1914 during WWI when the German and British troops stopped fighting and sung Christmas Carols with each other. Some accounts noted that the two warring armies even played soccer together. Wouldn't it be wonderful if that is how conflicts were solved rather than through violence? I show my students the attached commercial created by Sainsbury's in the United Kingdom every year before the holiday break. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.

I love that video. When I was still teaching in the library I always read my 6th graders a book about this event. it is a historical fiction book. It does include factual information in the back of the book about this event.
