Favorite Techniques?

Post by Deanna13 »

What are some of your favorite scrapbook techniques?

Also what is a technique that you don't use very often anymore?

I almost always use inking. Seems something's missing if I don't.

I also love using machine stitching on my layouts and even sometimes on my cards. It adds that final touch. Sometimes I'll hand stitch if I have the time.

Paper tearing is something I don't use very often anymore. I love the look that bit of distressing adds, but I often overlook it.

I think I'm just the opposite, although I do love to ink everything. I agree, sometimes my photo mats just seem blah without a touch of ink on edges.

I love paper tearing, even though I don't use it too often.

And I think stitching is my least favorite. I always use faux stitching. Washi tape with a stitch print or I have a rolling stamp with a stitch print.

Favorite technique would be adding ink or watercolors to my background with some drips and splatters....maybe some stenciling too. I'm also trying to use up my old eyelets so I usually add a few of those on my pages also.

Technique that I don't use very often would definitely be stitching. Although I have sewn on my pages, it's a pain in the rear to pull the sewing machine out to add stitching.

I am definitely an inker and I use more pop dots now than I used to
I love the stitch look but never take the time to do it
I don't like a lot of fussy cutting

My favorite techniques would be using stencils, drips and splatters. I love the look of tearing but don't do it often. I use to ink up edges a lot but for some reason I got away from it.

Inking is my go to; I like splatters but rarely ever do it. I suck at stamping and hardly ever do fussy cutting

I love to ink things on my pages. And I have two NEW to me loves. One is Nuvo Drops. I'm totally obsessed with them because I love the enamel dot looks on my projects but they're so darned expensive! I'm collecting all of the colors because I love them so much. :) My second new to me love is stitching on my layouts. I have been taking the 6x6 paper classes by Allison Davis and she just kept showing how amazing stitching is on her pages. So one day I decided to pull out some old embroidery floss from my Mom's sewing kit that I inherited and sewed on a page. OMG I was instantly hooked!!! I sent Allison a note when I posted the page and I said "You've ruined me forever!" LOL! I don't do it on every page like she does but it's so much easier to add a bit of stitching here and there especially on all the boy layouts I do that I don't have embellies for!

Something I used to use all the time that I don't anymore is eyelets and fibers. I rarely use them now.

Layering will always be a favorite technique. Least favorite is mixed media. I just don't seem to have the ability to know how much is enough or where to place it. Like others the inking/distressing was a technique that I used to do all the time but it rarely hits my pages now.
