For scrapbook enthusiasts, this opens up endless creative possibilities—capturing vibrant county fair memories, documenting visits to local dairy farms, or designing layouts featuring iconic Wisconsin cheese. Whether it's a themed challenge that encourages scrappers to incorporate cow prints, milk cartons, or rolling green pastures into their pages, or a personal project celebrating family traditions tied to dairy, this month offers inspiration galore. A scrapbook challenge centered around Dairy Month could push crafters to experiment with farm-themed embellishments, nostalgic photos, or heartfelt journaling about their favorite dairy treats. It’s a chance to preserve the flavors and festivities of Wisconsin’s dairy legacy in a fun and artistic way!

A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday (sketch), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations in the Cookin' up Creations Gallery.

Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

Today we’re pulling inspiration from one of the tastiest trends around, charcuterie boards! From Wisconsin’s finest cheeses to fresh fruits, crackers, and meats, a charcuterie board is all about variety, balance, and beauty, just like a great scrapbook layout.

For this challenge, take a cue from the art of charcuterie and create a layout that feels layered, full, and thoughtfully arranged. Think different photo sizes, a mix of embellishment types, overlapping textures or papers, a visual feast across your page.

Your challenge: Create a layout inspired by the “charcuterie board” concept.
1. Use at least two different photo sizes.
2. Create embellishment clusters.
3. Use 3 or more different type of embellishments.

For my example, I’m sharing a deeply personal Mother’s Day layout. It’s filled with photos of my mom, sisters, and our children. A day made extra special because my mom had just come through a serious illness.

Wow! With all the flowers, my first thought was Mother’s Day, but I love how you made it work for a travel layout!

Lolis and Kathy, I must ask because inquiring minds need to know---Is this LO from the Vicki Bouton class? Love it and how you both added your pictures to make each of them unique.

Patti, great variety of elements! I love how you mixed the different colors of dotted paper, the embellishments, and the photos so seamlessly.
