For scrapbook enthusiasts, this opens up endless creative possibilities—capturing vibrant county fair memories, documenting visits to local dairy farms, or designing layouts featuring iconic Wisconsin cheese. Whether it's a themed challenge that encourages scrappers to incorporate cow prints, milk cartons, or rolling green pastures into their pages, or a personal project celebrating family traditions tied to dairy, this month offers inspiration galore. A scrapbook challenge centered around Dairy Month could push crafters to experiment with farm-themed embellishments, nostalgic photos, or heartfelt journaling about their favorite dairy treats. It’s a chance to preserve the flavors and festivities of Wisconsin’s dairy legacy in a fun and artistic way!

A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday (sketch), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations in the Cookin' up Creations Gallery.

Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

The regular tasks and responsibilities involved in maintaining and running a farm is what we are going to focus on today. We will start with encompassing animal care.
1. Grooming- Brush the horses and keep them clean and comfortable
2. feed and gather the eggs from the chickens
3. Milking the cows can be done by hand
4. Watering- ensuring the animals have access to fresh water
You may wonder what the challenge is so I will explain.
1- Brushing the horses. Use brush strokes in any form on your background. I know many of you are masters of stenciling on backgrounds, however I am old school. I used a bunch of elastic bands (with a little width) and made this tool. Then you add ink from the ink pad on the bottom part of the elastics and dab it on your paper. I used three different ink colors on mine.
2- The chicken eggs are oval shape so be sure to include ovals on your layout.
3- A milk cow is sometimes a Holstein which is usually black and white although they may also be red and white in color due to a recessive genetic trait. But we are going to stick with the black and white. Use something black and white while creating.
4- watering reminds me of blue so use a hint of blue on your page.
Here is my example and a pic of my elastic tool.

Still figuring out my new computer and my Wednesday challenge would only allow me three pictures. I know it will work for me one day and then not the next.

I used a never used before Tim Holtz splatter brush to make the brush strokes using three oxide inks: Kitsch flamingo, peeled paint, peacock feathers
