How do you store your scraps? How small do they have to be to save?

I store scraps by color, or sometimes by kind. If I have flower paper scraps I will probably put it with my flowers. For me small can be an inch wide by 12 inches. I am trying to just let all pieces go that are smaller than an index card. It just seems really hard for me. ;)

I have them in 12x12 file folders by color for the solid cardstock. Nothing saved that is smaller than 3-4 inches. My pattern papers are 1. 12 " -6" in a pizza carton style box. 4x6 are in a shoe box and 3x4 is in an old card size box. Anything smaller finds the garbage. i have to be strict because my piles get so big so fast.

All my scraps are stored in a bin with a lid. Not very efficient, but I keep the bin close when I’m crafting. As far as sizes of scraps that I save, if I can punch a shape out of it, I keep it. I also like to make collage masterboards out of my scraps to use as card fronts.

Many years ago I put together some cereal boxes, then I decoupaged them. I place my scraps with like colors in sheet protectors and the sheet protectors go into the cereal boxes. If the scraps are from a paper pad or a kit, I store them together.

I keep scraps with the original line until I'm finished with it. Then I have manilla folders by color. I don't have a particular size I'll keep, but if it looks like I could use it with something else I'll throw it in the folder. Then, about once a year I'll go through the folder and throw out the older scraps.

I have 2 paper folios with 12 expanding pockets. 1 for solid papers and 1 for printed papers. I labeled each pocket with a color so it's easy to find what I'm looking forward. And I probably save scraps that aren't worth saving but I go through them every few months and get rid of the small ones.
