If their feet got cold, they’d tuck it under a wing and stand on one foot, then switch to the other one. They even learned how to break through thin ice! But in the picture on this page the snow was deep on top of the ice on their pond so Steve had to shovel snow off and then use an axe to make a hole so the geese could take their daily bath.
