December 2025 - Junk Journal Folio

Folios are a little something extra you can add to your journals. They can hold tags, extra photos, journaling, ephemera as well as memorabilia. There are several different ways you can make one. It's basically folding a 12x12 paper to fit your size journal. If you're working with double sided paper, this will go a lot easier. I used single sided paper so I had to use two sheets of patterned paper glued together.

I cut my paper to 7 1/4 by 10. I scored at 2 inches for an inside flap, 8 for a bottom pocket and again at 10 for a 2 inch flap to fold over the front of my folio. I wish I had made my second score at 10, but this was the second one I had made because I glued the pocket upside down in my first one.
I had to start all over and I wasn't about to do it again.
I don't know what size journal you are working on so you will have to figure out the measurements for yourself.
Because I chose not to sew my signatures in, I was able to slip my folio under the elastic. If you sewed in your signatures, you can still add a folio by gluing it directly to your page after it's made.

Here it is all closed up inside my journal.
