Join us all month long as we focus on some of the world’s most famous product mascots - anywhere from the Michelin man to the Pillsbury doughboy. You'll never know WHO your CHALLENGE Team will pick for you . . . just know, they're all gonna be GR'R'REAT!

A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday (sketch), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations in the Cookin' up Creations Gallery.

Prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

I'm kicking off this month's challenge featuring the logo for one of my family's favorite places to go in our hometown, the Dairy Queen! The Dairy Queen does not have a specific mascot for the franchise, but it does have a distinctive logo and method for serving their ice cream.

Therefore, I challenge you to complete the following "Dairy Queen" related tasks for today's challenge.

1) It's called the Dairy QUEEN. My daughter dressed up as a princess for her 6th birthday party and was so proud of her Beauty and the Beast "Belle" costume. I challenge you to use a photo featuring you or a loved one feeling proud, in other words, a "Queen" or "King" for the day. Perhaps s/he won an important game that you want to document? Or perhaps you could document a pivotal day in a person's life like a graduation or promotion? The possibilities are endless.

2) A Queen often wears a crown covered in jewels. I challenge you to use bling in some way on your project. I chose to use pearl embellishments to accessorize the circle portion of my project.

3) The Dairy Queen is known for the finishing touch swirl on their ice cream cones and sundaes. I challenge you to use a swirl in some way on your layout. I chose to use swirl stickers, but patterned paper with swirls, or ribbon would be a great embellishment idea too.

4) Finally, it's Sketch Monday, so I used the following sketch from my former design team "2 Broke Girls." I liked the circle component (reminded me of a crown's shape) that houses the main picture.

I can't wait to see how you all interpret the Dairy Queen challenge. Thanks for playing along with me today.

Here is the sketch...

And here is my project.
