TGIF everyone! If you would like to scrapbook this weekend, but are short on time, I have the perfect sketch for you. Several years ago, I was on a design team called "2 Broke Girls," and they had the best sketches. Not only did I love the simplicity of their sketches, but I also liked how clean my projects turned out when I followed their guidelines. I have used their sketches for so many projects, but I had never used this one...

My daughter and I spent an afternoon checking out the gorgeous cherry blossom trees in Washington DC last month, so I wanted to highlight a picture of her and I in the beautiful scenery. I loved how the placement of the papers on this sketch put the emphasis on the picture in an easy-to-replicate manner. My first challenge for you is to use this sketch as inspiration for your project today. I used nothing but scraps to accent the pictures on this project, therefore my second challenge to you is to use only leftover papers as your picture accent pieces. Finally, it is tempting to use pastel colors when creating a project about spring blooms. My final challenge for today is to use a non-traditional color as the background for your project. I used a piece of dark blue Vicki Boutin patterned paper for my background to help the pastels of my picture pop off the page. I can't wait to see your take on this project!

Non traditional colored background (the photo is actually a photo from christmas day, as you can see from my daughter's pjs), but I decided to go with a game theme instead of Christmas because I'm sick of Christmas colors right now! I've done about 8 Christmas pages this month. Used scraps except for the one remaining piece of 12x12 paper I have from this collection.

Here's mine based on the Sketch + Leftover Scraps (from my reds scrap folder) + Nontraditional Background Color. :)

Photo of sweet grandkids Marcus, Lucy, and Kellan. They didn't know each other was going to wear red for school that day. Lucy tried to get the boys to change, but they wouldn't. LOL (April 2024) :)
