Million Dollar Highway

Post by Tamara »

Has any of you ever been on the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado?

We heard about it last year from some friends who went on a mini Cooper cross country excursion with other mini coopers. I am talking in upwards of 100. Wouldn't that be a fun drive? At first DH said it wasn't for him. It takes such concentration with drops on both sides of the road and no guard rails. But now he is researching it and changing up our April trip to Canyonlands and Moab till September. It would be a better time of year to go when it isn't so crowded.

Never heard of it but doesn't sound like something I would want to do.

Don't you want your heart jumping out of your chest the whole drive? Sadly if we do it we have to take the same route back. Yikes!

Looks like a beautiful scenic drive. I bet it is spectacular in the fall.

Turns out that after DH researched it there is a point that the elevation is 11,000 feet which is too high for my oxygen issues. Since it is a dangerous highyway and no turning back on the 23 miles we have to scratch the idea. If something would occur there would be no fast easy way for him to get me to a breathing elevation in a timely manner. Some of the way the speed limit is only 10 -15 mph

ah, too bad you will miss this trip. My sister lives in Colorado. I'll have to ask her about it
