November 4th challenge - Sketch/Something Old Something New

Post by Jan Mosier »

Good morning ladies and welcome to the sketch challenge. That's right, starting today we will have another weekly challenge. Every Monday we will have a new sketch and new challenge just for you.

A new Blue Plate Special challenge is posted each Monday (sketch), Wednesday, and Saturday, and participants have until the 3rd of the following month to complete and post their creations in the Cookin' Up Creations Gallery.

Prize will be a $10 Gift Certificate to their favorite online store (random drawing).....

*Any month that we have more than 50 completed layouts/creations, the prize will be a $20 Gift Certificate instead of $10.

Today's challenge is to use the sketch below for inspiration and something old with something new. As you already know we are working with retired paper collections from past paper manufacturers. If you're like me, you probably still have a few old collections collecting dust in your scraproom. Or perhaps, your'e not like me and you've already used them all up. Either way, you can still participate. Just use something old with something new.

I found this sketch on Pinterest. Looks like it may have been created by a Valerie for The Studio Challenge blog.

And here is my interpretation using an old Basic Grey collection with a "newish" mixed media technique.

Have fun!

This is a very interesting LO, Jan! I love the circles and your choice of colors. Nothing is better than adding some Basic Grey to the mix. AWESOME job!

pretty cute Jan! I went through some of my pattern papers on Saturday and pulled out all the old stuff. I think we could do this theme for a year and I would still have so much old stuff. I just brought 3 DCWV paper packs in from the garage.
