Bio:
My husband Gerry and I live in Leesburg, Florida in a 55+ community. We moved to Florida from Maine when he retired in 2011. We just couldn’t take the cold and ice anymore. I have 3 stepchildren, 2 boys and a girl and 2 granddaughters ages 12 and 9. You see them in just about all my layouts.
What do you enjoy most about scrapbooking?
I love the creative process and preserving memories.
How did you get started?
I started working for Michaels and someone talked me into taking a card making class that I really enjoyed. Shortly after, Gerry and I got married in Hawaii and I decided to make a wedding album. I swore I wasn’t going to continue but then my stepdaughter got married, so I made her a wedding album. Then she had a baby so I started an album for her and it just snowballed from there.
Any advice for the new scrappers out there?
Just have fun scrapping. Don’t compare your work to everyone else. Don’t go crazy and buy a ton of supplies until you really figure out your style.
Describe your style, your scrapping place, and your favorite products.
My style is all over the place. I like clean and simple as well as mixed media and everywhere in between. I’m lucky enough to have my own scraproom. When we built our house I took one of the guest rooms and added a whole wall of lower kitchen cabinets for storage. My favorite products are my mixed media supplies like mists, paints, modeling pastes, stencils, inks and more.
What and/or Who inspires you? Do you find that it changes? Where do you get your inspiration from?
I would say most of my inspiration comes from my photos. But if I’m stumped or lose my mojo I’ll start looking at sketches for inspiration.
What types of challenges do you find "challenge" you the most?
Any challenge that requires flowers. For some reason they never look right when I use them on a layout.
What do you do for a living?
I’m retired now but I worked for the airlines as a customer service agent on the ticket counter, gates and on the ramp. I got laid off and went to work for Michaels handling receiving, cash, price changes and HR on a store level.
Describe your perfect day.
A day at the beach with my granddaughters.
What's your favorite indulgence? Snack?
Chocolate and peanut butter...preferably together.
What's one thing you would like to learn that is NOT scrapbook related?
I would love to learn how to quilt.
What's your favorite layout and why:
My favorite layout changes over time so right now this is my favorite one. It’s from a sketch that I really liked and I love a photo like this that isn’t posed and the subjects have no idea you’re taking it.
Creating memories, one page at a time.
