Post by tammyfolk »

Cookin' Up Creations is pleased to announce that our "Chef of the Month" for August 2020 is our very own . . .Phillis Walrath!

Phillis has been a Member of the Cookin' up Creations community for just over two months now, and dove right into all the challenges and the daily ins and outs of the message board scene . . . So Phillis, thank you for that, and for being a member of the Cookin' up Creations family!

So ladies, let's put the SPOTLIGHT on Phillis this month!

Please help me Congratulate Phillis as our Chef of the Month for August 2020!

What do you enjoy most about scrapbooking?

I love creating the memory on paper for my son and daughter to look at in the future. I love reliving the moments from when the photo was taken.

How did you get started?

My friends invited me to a Creative Memories party. It was a great time.

Any advice for the new scrappers out there?

Just start with photos and paper. Watch some youtube videos or just look at photos of what other scrappers have done.

Describe your style, your scrapping place, and your favorite products.

I do a mostly clean page. I do love the messy backgrounds and do them sometimes. I have a desk in my walk in closet that is my scrap place. I have some shelves and some carts with my supplies. My favorite products are all the different embellishments. I find them where I can. I have no idea of product brands. I just buy what looks good to me.

What and/or Who inspires you? Do you find that it changes? Where do you get your inspiration from?

I just look at various scrappers on the scrap blogs I follow and on the internet, pinterest, and youtube. I do find that when I like an idea I do it many times. This may be a product, sketch, or technique.

What types of challenges do you find "challenge" you the most?

when I am asked to use a specific product that often gives me some trouble. I may not have that product or just can't figure out how to use that product with the photos I am scrapping.

What do you do for a living?

I am a retired teacher librarian. I loved it all for 30 years. I could tell it was time to move on. So now I sub when and where I want. I do miss my friends and the students so this gives me the fix I need.

Describe your perfect day.

My perfect day would be sleeping in and having time to read, scrap, and spend time with my family (my hubby, 20 something kids, my mom, or my sisters)

What's your favorite indulgence? Snack?

My favorite indulgence would be chocolate.

What's one thing you would like to learn that is NOT scrapbook related?

I would love quilt. I can sew and have made some basic quilts. I would like to master making the quilt

What's your favorite layout and why:

Well this was hard for me to answer. I chose this page of my daughter from Christmas since it shows some inking on my background and clusters of embellishments. These are all things I like to do. When choosing a cardstock background I can "decorate it" any way I want.
