My daughter does economic development out of Lusaka, Zambia. She got this job after graduating from the University of Michigan in 2012. Her husband was born and raised there. It may sound romantic, but it's not a place I would choose to visit. We'v been without power for 2 days, they go without power for 6 hours EVERY DAY. We get fresh water from our taps, they have to buy fresh, bottled water or risk parasitic diseases. Food is very cheap there ($1 for a loaf of bread, $2.50/lb for sirloin steak) but most people who work 6 days a week still can't afford it). Everyone, by the way, except government works 6 days a week. The average pay is $20 a WEEK! Every time I go over I become more apreciative of what we have in the States. I love fresh water and (predominantly) dependable electricity.
