Have you gone on a freeze? How long did you last?

I went on a spending freeze several years ago and it totally changed the way I buy now! Before the freeze - that lasted a full year - I would buy every paper that I liked or every paper that came in a collection because I thought I had to have it all, and a lot of the time I would buy multiples of the same paper. The freeze really helped me to see what types of papers (patterns) and embellishments that I really use. Now I am so much more selective in buying only what I really know I will use and I have to really love the paper to buy 2 of the same. I rarely buy complete collections of paper anymore - only the papers I really like.

Even after being on a freeze for a year I still have so much to use... I am concentrating on using my stash this year - in fact, my friend Lisa and I are doing a stash bash challenge this year on our blogs - challenging each other, and anyone who wants to play along, to create a kit following the challenge prompt and trying to use it up throughout the month. It's a fun way for us to keep track of how much we are actually using, too.

I do plan on being on a...partial freeze this year. The only new scrappy items I plan on bringing in this year are my kits from The ScrapRoom - I'm on the DT so no getting around this one! - and my Elle's Studio kit which I use a lot in my Project Life - I just have to make the time to do it! That being said - the closest stores to me are an hour away and it is really hard to take my adult son that has severe autism shopping for scrappy items that far from home! So I don't go shopping a lot and I have gotten really good when I shop online that if I start adding things to my cart I wait for a day or two before I hit the "buy" button more often than not I don't go back and buy. I do usually splurge around Mother's Day/my birthday because my family usually gets me gift cards, but that will be the only spending I plan on doing this year.

I'll have to keep track and let you know if I am successful with it!

I'm on one now. I have so many unused kits and paper pads that I shouldn't need supplies for awhile. The only thing we have close to us is a Hobby Lobby and I don't even look at the scrapbook aisle when I go in there now. I will shop for adhesive, but that's it!

I need to do this and think I will try it this year. I'm hoping to do a lot more scrapping this year so that will help use up some of my stash. So far this year I've only bought things with gift cards and a store credit.

I'm not on a freeze, but on a low buy. I am really trying to figure out which supplies I "need" the most and prioritizing my spending.

I could be on one indefinitely and still have extra supplies!!!
I'm trying not to buy any new paper I just have way too much and I have so many collections from the warehouse sales that I got so cheap. Hopefully I can stick to my guns

I just started up again so I bought a few things. It’s been years!

In the past I used to give myself layout goals before I was allowed to buy. For instance I couldn’t but a thing until I created 25 layouts etc. That always worked for me.

On one now - not doing anything but buying adhesive or page protectors. I have so much unused items I need to make a dent in my stash before I loosen the purse strings again

I'm going to do this now . . . I think I still have one kit club that I'm subscribed to know, and also my elle's studio. Other than that, it'll be adhesives, and white and black cardstock, and right now I have enough of all of it to last me for awhile.
