RQOTD 7-31

Post by Wanda »

At what age should a young person get their first cell phone?

Mine got theirs in about 6th grade, but had to save and buy their own. This was back in the "old days," about 2005?

My older grandkids all got theirs in about 6th or 7th grade also. That's the age range when they have more independence; they are allowed to go with their friends after school, to ball games etc., and the phones help them to stay in touch with their parents and vice versa. If they abuse the phone privileges, don't check in with parents etc., they lose the phones.

Gosh, I can't remember exactly when my kids got theirs - I think maybe when they turned 16...Matt might have gotten his phone a little sooner...I can't remember!

Kyle was in the 11th or 12th grade when he got his first phone. At the time my husband and I didn't have one either.
