I have two cats and a dog. I don't do the dog's nails. The pavement seems to do it when he's walking or playing ball across the parking lot. I do trim the cats' nails. Hate doing that job. They don't just fuss, but pull their paw away and often end up scratching by accident.

We have a tortoise. BEST pet ever! No need to walk, groom, and they are sooo quiet...lol.
I let him out and he wanders the house. He's not too big, but big enough that he can't get under things, so he's easy to find. If I have the door open with the screen, he will wander over and just sit there and enjoy the breeze.

I cut my dogs nails and bathe them. They are smooth coats so I don't worry about trimming their fur.

I have only two cats now, my husband and I do everything with them. Cut the claws "on ham".
