Rio Grande City is famous for its historical background. We have a lot of historical buildings that are visited by people from every where. Among one of the city’s treasures is The Grotto, a replica of the original shrine in Lourdes, France, and features statues of Our Lady of Lourdes and the peasant girl who first had visions of her.
Also, we have many different types of birds in the area, and our city also hosts the migration of several types of butterflies. We were even visited by Jimmy Carter who came to observe the butterfly migration.
I had to google it - started off as being well known for its abundance of cotton-growing fields and eventually the world's largest inland cotton port. Then it went to oil fields and Noble Energy being started there
