Let's talk about writing intruments (and not the journaling kind)
When you're at home and reach for something to write with, do you typically grab a pen or a pencil??

I have a lot of pens on and around my desk area, but I always prefer a good lead pencil if I can find one.

a pen. Because there are several handy. Rarely use a pencil.
