RQOTD- 7.4.18

Post by Tamara »

Happy Fourth of July!!

Do you just chill on this holiday or do you celebrate with family and friends?

It's interesting how life changes. We used to go to the cabin every 4th. When DH parents were alive we would go to their house for a bbq and watch the city fireworks from their back yard. My son goes with his inlaws to a condo for the week every year so we haven't done anything with him in over 10 years. Sometimes my daughter would have us over for fireworks at their house. But now it is just DH and I chilling for the day at home. We are going to a big lunch at a restaurant down town then back home. He isn't a big fan of crowds so firework shows don't entice him at all.

We spent the day at the inlaws. just us and them.

We don't usually do anything "big" as G isn't here, Shawn doesn't do crowds, and I don't like to sweat! Not to mention, I have to work tomorrow.

Kind of like Tammy - not a fan of lots of sweating and I have to get up at 5:30 a.m. tomorrow. Went to a cookout just to eat and visit a little and now back home

We celebrated at home. Our kids came home to celebrate with us. Jorgie, my oldest brought his girlfriend. My husband started barbecuing early in the morning to avoid the high temperatures since we are back to the triple digits. We ate, we played Monopoly, watched a movie, and later, when it was cooler, we went Pokemon hunting, rode the bikes, danced and made s'mores! It was a fun day, and then the kids left.

Years past we would go on vacation, hang out at my parents lake house and bbq or grill something here. Fast forward to 2018, Jack worked and I chilled out at home.....well, I actually baked a little. ;)
