Have you ever been thrown a surprise birthday party? Or thrown one? How well did it go over? Was it really a surprise?

I have thrown anniversary parties for my parents when I was maybe 14, 15, but that's it. They were small with handmade cards, posters, crate paper streamers and a cake. Guests included my parents of course, my best friend Jill who helped with the decorating and my siblings.

Many years ago my ex-husband threw me a suprise 30th birthday party. As we pulled up to his parents house I heard a loud car and said that sounds just like my brothers car, what would he be doing here (he lived 3 hours away). I'll never forget the look on my ex's face...he was ready to kill my brother! It was still a big suprise to me.

I have done a few for DH. When he turned 30 my sister dressed up in her Halloween costume, which was a black dress black lipstick and she brought a bouquet of black balloons and then read him his eulogy. It was pretty funny he had no idea.
When I turned 50 we were going to dinner at Texas roadhouse and when I got there my parents were there and his parents were there. That’s the first time he had done anything for me.
